3 Exercise Worksheets You Can Do To Strengthen Yourself And Your Relationships

Posted on: 22 April 2015

Relationship coaches assist people who are seeking a new direction in the relationships with their spouses, children, friends, employers, co-workers, and others. The goal of a relationship coach is to change the way you typically deal with difficult situations, communicate with others, and work to achieve your life dreams. Coaches typically employ exercises and worksheets to help you focus on how you feel about yourself and how you have been reacting to different situations. Here are 3 types of worksheets that a relationship coach can use to help you reflect on yourself and your behaviors.

Communication Style Worksheet

With the communication style worksheet, you will specifically explain an incident where someone said something to you (like your wife or husband) that made you respond in a particular way. You will write down exactly what you said back and explain whether you think what you said was positive or negative. You will write down whether you think your response made the situation better or worse, and why you feel that way. Finally, you will write about how you could have responded better to the comments. The purpose of this exercise is so you can see how you are influencing your relationships by how you respond to what others are saying to you.

Self-Worth Assessment

How you view yourself has a tremendous impact on the health your relationships. Low self-esteem endangers work, spousal, and friendship relationships, because you might feel that you are not good enough and have nothing to offer other people. Relationship coaches utilize an exercise where you fill out a self-worth assessment worksheet. The goal of this exercise is to raise your self-esteem by having you recognize and value the positive things you have done in life and how those things have benefited others around you.

Life Goals

In this exercise, you will spend time reflecting on the unrealized goals you have and what you can do to achieve them. You will write down a specific scenario that you want to see happen in your life and think about actions you can take to make your dreams a reality. The scenario you choose can be about your home life, career, relationships, or other interests. The goal is to help you focus on incorporating new actions into your life to help you achieve what you want in a positive way that won't destroy the relationships you are trying to save.

If you find you are having trouble with relationships in your life, you should call a relationship coaching specialist to help you understand what is happening and what you can do to change things.
